The problem

FIFA’s digital platforms provide essential support for the organisation of competitions and non-sporting events around the world – so systems need to work smoothly during events and be fully supported in case problems occur.

The set of objectives listed provide a basis for achieving these higher goals though the ability to develop the service.

Objectives

  1. One common system architecture

  2. One common CMS & shared databases

  3. Flexible & consistent user management & registration

  4. Common, re-usable functionality across sites

  5. Consistent look & feel

  6. Centralised support

  7. Single sign-on between Extranet and FIFA ICT applications

  8. Site-specific security model

  9. Standardised (and automated) system life cycle processes

  10. System performance, stability & reliability

FIFA employs 400 staff, operating across 10 divisions or sub-divisions, approximately 25 departments and standing committees, including one for each of the key competitions. There are six regional confederations and 209 Member Associations worldwide

FIFA’s main activities are:

  1. Developing football through promoting its values, especially through youth and development programmes

  2. Organising inspiring tournaments including the FIFA World Cup, the biggest single-sport competition in the world

  3. Use this success to improve lives by inspiring communities and breaking down barriers, improving access to football for all
